This is a blog post about 84. We’re talking about the number itself, not what it represents. If you’ve been following this blog for a while, then you know that I like to explore numbers and how they relate to culture and society in different ways.

In this post, we’ll take a look at some of the history of the number “84” and see what pop culture has done with it over time!

What is number 84? Number 84 has some history in various cultures, but for the most part, it’s not a significant number.

For example, if you look at ancient Chinese numerology, there’s no special significance to the number “84” and when looking at Western culture there are only a few cultural references that come up with this specific numerical value (ie. 1984).

But what about now? Well, pop culture certainly takes notice of this particular numerical value!

In pop culture: There are plenty of examples from recent decades where we see an association between “84” and something good happening or signs of success- like on The Simpsons episode where Homer wakes up after dreaming he was president.
